Rough-in through concrete and block gets far simpler with a box built for the job. Galvanized steel stands up to the pressure of a masonry pour while 21 cubic inches of depth leaves ample room for conductors and connections. Fourteen concentric knockouts accept 1/2, 3/4 and 1 inch conduit, so feeds land from whatever angle the wall allows without hunting for the right entry. The single-gang body sets devices flush in poured or block walls, and cETL certification backs the install at inspection. It is the difference between fighting a shallow box in masonry and dropping in one that fits the first time.
